Technology Architecture

The goal of the Technology Architecture piece of the Initiative is to create the next-generation infrastructure for the University.  To do this, the project team will establish Enterprise Architecture standards, guidelines, and processes; that will be used when selecting, implementing and supporting the new Academic Information Environment.

Enterprise Architecture is responsible for the processes that translate institutional vision and strategy into effective enterprise change.  This is done by creating, communicating, and improving the key requirements, principles, and models that describe the enterprise's future state and enable its evolution.  The scope of EA includes the people, processes, information, and technologies of the enterprise and their relationships to one another and to external environments.

At ISU, the The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF)  has been used to guide the enterprise architecture maturity process.  For more information on TOGAF, click the link on the left hand side of the page.
