Business intelligence is a broad class of applications and technologies for collecting, storing, analyzing, and providing access to data to help make better business decisions. For LEAPForward the overarching goal of the business intelligence effort is to provide value-added knowledge. The BI environment will be designed to assist University leadership in making informed decisions in support of the strategic goals, as well, as provide students with the administrative information that they need to be successful at the University. The first two areas to be addressed by the business intelligence effort are human resources and finance information. At a later date, the effort will move towards supporting the implementation of the new student information system. As modules of the student information system are deployed, the business intelligence environment will be developed in parallel.
