The Educating Illinois Task force hosted 2 open forums the past few weeks to provide an overview of Educating Illinois 2013-2018: Individualized Attention, Shared Aspirations, the draft of the University’s next strategic plan. The forums were open to all University constituents, as well as those from the local community. Participants were given the opportunity to provide feedback and ask questions about the draft plan.
Many of the goals outlined in the Educating Illinois draft directly relate to the LEAPForward Initiative. Perhaps the most significant to us is Goal 4, “Enhance institutional effectiveness by strengthening the organizational operation and enhancing resource development.” Outlined in this objective is “Build a modern IT infrastructure that supports the achievement of the University’s mission and goals.” This includes the implementation of a new information system to meet the changing needs of the University, including student and financial information system, and creation of a modern business intelligence environment that provides ready access to data in a user-friendly format to inform decisions.
The significance of the LEAPForward Initiative continues to bear down across the University, and the open forums provided yet another chance to voice that importance.
